Logistics – A growing industry!

The logistics industry in Australia is estimated to account for 8.6 per cent of GDP, employing over 1,000,000 Australians. It involves part of the supply chain that plans, implements and controls the efficient, forward and reverse flow of storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption. This involves freighting hundreds of billions of tons of goods each year in Australia alone! Ensuring an effective supply chain is not only a competitive advantage for Australian companies but a requirement for long term survival. Logistics careers have continued to develop in Australia and around the world, and have recognised value within small, medium and large Australia companies.

Pathways

The Diploma of Logistics is a fantastic way to launch your career in the industry that drives Australia’s economy. It’s also a great step up for those who’ve been in the industry for years.

If you want to take your learning and professional development even further, you can use the Diploma as a pathway to university studies. You may be able to apply and/or get course credit towards a related degree, such as a Bachelor of Business (Logistics and Supply Chain Management). It’s best to check first with the uni you’re thinking of applying to, before you enrol with Monarch Institute.

I’ve been exposed to various industry sectors including manufacturing, distribution, tertiary, freight forwarding, 3PL, online and consulting during my career in the logistics arena.
This has given me a broad insight into what drives logistics businesses, the people, processes and technology required in successful organisations and also the constraints in managing complex, fast paced operations.
